Course Objective/Overview

The overall aim of SOVA is to increase understanding of the abuse of vulnerable adults and the action to take to prevent abuse. Learners will be able to; identify different forms of abuse and list possible signs and behaviour, learners will have a clarification of what actions to take in response to a disclosure of abuse being made.

Course Delivery

Delivery is a combination of PowerPoint presentation, videos and activities. Activities include a combination of reading, drawing and role play.

Key Topics

Key topics include;

  • An explanation of what safeguarding is.
  • The different types of abuse.
  • Identifying the different signs and behaviours of each abuse.
  • Legislation relating to safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable adults.
  • Understanding what actions to take if you suspect abuse and how to document it.
