The goal of this qualification is to populate the Health sector with a skilled, flexible and effective workforce whilst maintaining high quality and safe care for patients. It provides opportunities for staff to formally qualify within the Health sector to undertake a range of Clinical Healthcare/Support tasks. This programme is aimed at those who support adults in roles that exercise autonomy and judgement within limited parameters.
An assessor will visit the candidate at their workplace once a month for a minimum of 2 hours. Observations will be agreed between the learner and assessor and it is the responsibility of the learner to liaise with their employer for this to take place within the workplace. In addition to this, underpinning knowledge of the units will need to be provided by the learner in the form of written questions, completing workbooks or reflective accounts, etc. The learner will be expected to spend at least 6 hours per week completing work before their next monthly meeting with their assessor.
Assisting with patients’ overall comfort and wellbeing; assisting patients to maintain all aspects of daily living activities in accordance with individual programmes of care:
To maintain patients personal hygiene and appearance
To assist with eating and drinking; (access to) toilet facilities maintaining appropriate sensitive, caring and tactful relationships with patients, families and carers.
Assisting healthcare professionals with clinical tasks Monitoring patients’ conditions and taking physiological measurements
Assisting paramedics to respond to emergency calls driving emergency vehicles maintaining medical and life saving emergency equipment helping patients to live as independently as possible Supervising staff.
