Maw 2024 / Learners

Two learners and two members of staff at ACT Training have been shortlisted for this year’s Apprenticeship Awards Cymru from hundreds of candidates.

The annual awards recognise and celebrate individual learners, employers and training providers who have excelled in the development of the Welsh Government’s Traineeships and Apprenticeships programmes across the nation.

Whittled down to thirty finalists by a judging panel, we are very proud to count four individuals selected as belonging to ACT Training.

Our two learners Megan Hession from Cardiff and Emily Wintle from Pontyclun are shortlisted for Higher Apprenticeship Apprentice of the Year and Traineeships Learner of the Year (Level One) respectively.

Assessor Emma Huggins from Rhoose is nominated for Work-based Learning Assessor of the Year, and tutor Ros Smith from Pontypridd is a finalist for the award of Work-based Learning Tutor of the Year.

Organised by the Welsh Government and the National Training Federation for Wales (NTfW), the awards provides a platform to showcase the exceptional achievements of industry individuals and organisations each year.

Last year, our own Chris Hughes picked up the award of Work-based Learning Tutor of the Year for the second year running. He said:

“I think the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru are very important because people and companies need to be recognised for their achievements.

The award gives me confidence that what I am doing is working and having a real impact on apprentices and the people I work with in general. I absolutely love my job. It is very motivational when learners achieve their apprenticeships but even more motivational when they adapt their learning and become better leaders and people because of my teaching.”

Sponsored by Pearson PLC and supported by Media Wales, the awards take place on 20th October in Newport’s Celtic Manor so good luck to all candidates and watch this space!
